CoQ10, or coenzyme Q10, is a naturally occurring antioxidant in your body that also helps convert food into energy.

CoQ10 is a lipid antioxidant making it fat-soluble. Hence it is recommended to be taken after a meal. 

When to take CoQ10: morning or night?

Studies have shown that less than 1% of the population may get gastrointestinal issues upon taking CoQ10 [1]. So if you feel such side effects, you should take CoQ10 in the morning. 

For those who do not have such side effects- take it at night before sleeping. Your body performs many absorption and detox processes while you sleep so that the CoQ10 can be absorbed better.

Should you take CoQ10 with your meal?

Taking CoQ10 with a meal is highly recommended since it is a fat-soluble antioxidant [2]. The fat in your meal helps dissolve the CoQ10, making it fitter for absorption. Further, taking a fat-soluble supplement on an empty stomach can adversely affect your gut health.
